Clash Royale is a 2D-3D Online-PVP-Strategy game.

Players battle each other to earn trophies which are necessary to access cards only available in certain arenas. Some cards are only accessible through certain events.

Arenas have different trophy requirements. If a player's trophy cache drops below the required trophy requirement for an arena: the player returns to the previous arena until earning enough trophies to progress into the next arena. Clash Royale mainly consists of battling to collect, share (if you're in a clan), and train cards.

Clash Royale has no set story.
Each character (card) is fit with their own unique blurb and sounds.
The music changes to fit every arena's unique theme.

Players can raise their "King Level" to upgrade their defenses (for more Hit Points--HP--on their towers ), earn Gold to purchase cards and card upgrades, and buy (with real money)/earn Gems chests to to enter tournaments (or buy Gold and Chests). Achievements can be unlocked by using different game functions successfully i.e. winning four rounds in a row during a maximum-twelve-round tournament. Completed-unlocked achievements result in experience points and Gold.

Players can watch other players battle via TV Royale. Higher tier cards obtained from arenas requiring a higher trophy count or from special events tend to give players advantage over other players without higher tier cards. Yet, in some instances, strategy outweighs collections of higher tier cards. Clash Royale is free-to-play (FTP), but real cash is usable in a shop that has daily specials. Spending in free-to-play games is common especially when a purchase may provide an advantageous edge for a player. Yet, after hearing from a friend that spent over a hundred dollars on the game without even getting one Epic card and barely any Rares: I'd recommend caution (with any game) on any purchase that is not a guaranteed product resulting as one's desirous choice. Beware of paying real money for random chests with random rewards.

Clash Royale is alright. I like narratives; game lore really makes a difference in a video game. You're not able to add friends outside of a clan and are only able to communicate with friends in the same clan. You can connect Clash Royale to Facebook (I don't feel compelled to), but there may be more social features after linking Facebook with your Clash Royale account. Clash Royale is more fun with very active clan members; you can practice battle, chat, and trade.

If there are Clash Royale competitions: the game may be worth the practice. Otherwise, I feel as though this is a once-in-a-while-kind-of-game.
Game On,
